Twin River Casinos in both Lincoln and Tiverton have been ordered to remain closed due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus.

As GoLocalProv reported, the casinos were originally closed starting at midnight on March 14 and were to remain closed through March 21.

“This mandatory closure will continue to be assessed in accordance with the Rhode Island Department of Health guidelines related to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. You are authorized to continue utilizing the number of employees you feel are needed to secure, sanitize, and maintain the properties,” said Craig Sculos, Vice President and General Manager of Twin River Casino Hotel in a press release.

Coronavirus in RI

As GoLocalProv reported, on Thursday, Raimondo announced 11 new cases of coronavirus in Rhode Island, bringing the total to 44.

"We’re a step ahead of the virus. Right now we’re not overwhelmed, we don’t want to be overwhelmed. The most common question I am receiving is will I order a shelter a place. I am not planning to do that and I want to avoid that. That would be truly crushing for the economy,” said Raimondo.
