NEW: Wyatt Board Votes to Authorize Lawyers to Continue Mediation Following Bondholders' Lawsuit

Following the lawsuit filed earlier in April, the Wyatt Detention Center Board had voted to stay the suspension of the facility’s contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an emergency meeting held on Sunday, April 14, meaning the Detention Center would again accept ICE detainees.
Central Falls Mayor James Diossa had said in March that the facility would no longer take ICE detainees, which prompted the legal action from the bondholders, and subsequent stay voted by the board.
