Plow Trucks Used by City of Providence Vandalized Over Weekend

Providence police are investigating a report of damage to plow trucks utilized by the City of Providence over the weekend. 

About Incident 

According to police, officers responded to a report of larceny at 20 Ernest Street — the Providence Public Works Building — shortly before 11 AM on Sunday.

Police say they met with a city employee who told police that at some point over the weekend, some vehicles on the property were reportedly damaged and items were stolen from them. 

The city employee told police the vehicles were rentals used by Providence as plow trucks and were in a locked, fenced-in area over the weekend.

Upon inspection, a section of the fence was found to be reportedly pulled back.

Police noted that truck windows were broken and joysticks were stolen.

According to police, a dozen trucks were damaged.

Two of the vehicles had Rhode Island registrations; the rest were registered to Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland.

Police are currently investigating.
