Gunshot Fired Into Patient’s Room at Rhode Island Hospital - Providence Police Investigating

Providence police are investigating a gunshot fired into a patient's room at Rhode Island Hospital early Wednesday morning. 

About Incident 

Police responded to the Bridge Building at Rhode Island Hospital for a report of a gunshot into a patient’s room.

According to police, the shot was fired into the hospital’s neuro-stroke facility on the seventh floor. 

A projectile and a fragment were processed and collected from the facility’s hallway area, and police photographed the gunshot entry hole. 

Officers searched the outside area on Rhodes Street for any evidence of gunfire but report that none was found.

A police K9 also checked the adjacent highway area and no evidence was found. 

There were no reports of injuries. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
