Woman Shot in Head in Drive-By Shooting in Providence Thursday Night

Shortly before midnight, police responded to the Shell Station at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Broad Street for a report of a woman shot.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police learned the victim was the passenger in a vehicle driven by another female; both women told police they had been traveling on Elmwood Avenue when they heard shots being fired at them.
The women told police the gunfire came from another vehicle.
Police canvassed the area where the women said they had been shot at on Elmwood Avenue, and located several shell casings.
Detectives are currently investigating.
