Providence Police Investigating Report of Shots Fired Christmas Day

Providence police are investigating a report of shots being fired in the city on Saturday. 

About Incident 

Shortly after 5 PM on Saturday, police responded to American Street on Federal Hill for a report of shots fired from inside a residence.

Witnesses told police they saw a man flee the house with a gun — and a dog. 

Upon searching the apartment, police reported finding several spent shell casings as well as a bullet hole. 

Police are currently investigating.

On Friday — Christmas Eve — police responded to a report of a robbery at a Family Dollar store in Providence. 

Also on Friday, police responded to Rhode Island Hospital for a male shooting victim who was shot in both legs. 

The victim’s injuries are considered to be non life threatening.
