Providence Preservation Society Releases List of 2019’s Most Endangered Properties

The Superman Building once again makes the PPS list of "Most Endangered Properties."
The Providence Preservation Society (PPS) has released its list of Most Endangered Properties for 2019.

“The PPS Most Endangered program is a great way to shine a spotlight on some of the city’s most treasured gems and strengthen and broaden the advocacy that’s required to bring these properties back to life,” said Bonnie Nickerson, the City of Providence’s Director of Planning and Development.

The list is made up of properties that are not just architecturally and historically significant in Providence, but according to PPS, are threatened by neglect, deterioration, or demolition.

"The purpose of the list is to generate interest in and support for the preservation of significant structures; to educate the public about the benefits of historic preservation and the architectural resources in Providence; and to foster creative collaboration among property owners, developers, and other interested parties to bring about positive changes to each property," according to PPS.

Buildings on the annual MEP list represent a variety of aspects of local community life and span three centuries and multiple neighborhoods.
