Rhode Island Has 2nd Highest Financial Gap by Race

Blacks in Rhode Island are still at the bottom of the economic ladder, according to a report by finance social network WalletHub. The report shows that Rhode Island is the state with the 2nd highest financial gap by race in the country. To raise awareness on the wealth gap between White and Black Americans reaching its highest level since 1989, WalletHub released its report on 2015’s States with the Highest & Lowest Financial Gaps by Race/Ethnicity.

WalletHub analyzed the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 21 key metrics, ranging from the median household income gap to the unemployment rate gap, in order to measure the financial inequity among racial groups in the U.S.
