While Rhode Island ranks 9th for teacher’s salaries, it ranks significantly lower for education performance.
The state drops lower in rankings for quality of schools and education.
According to WalletHub, Rhode Island ranks 26th for K-12 education, and the website Scholaroo ranks RI #22 for schools.
Starting Salaries — How Rhode Island Compares
According to the study, the national average starting teacher salary is $44,530.
The starting salary increased 3.9% year-over-year. “The 3.9% increase in starting salary represents the largest increase over the fourteen years that NEA has been tracking increases in starting teacher pay. It is also the first real dollar increase in starting salaries in three years,” wrote NEA.
Rhode Island’s average starting salary is $46,065 — third highest in New England behind Massachusetts ($51,056) and Connecticut ($48,783).
