RIDOT Posts 3 Jobs Totaling Nearly $500K in Salaries Just Days After Bridge Failure

The jobs include “director of operations,” which is a job that has a salary range between $167,538 and a top line of $184,505.

Her resume posted to LinkedIn, the business-focused social media website, states she previously served as the chief financial officer for the Department of Administration under Governor Gina Raimondo.
The job description now posted to be filed states, in part, “To assume the responsibility for the overall administration of the department in the absence of the Director, and to provide overall assistance and support to the Director in the areas involved with the planning, coordination and implementation of all department activities.”
But, the job does not require that the individual is an engineer.
The “EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE" are as follows:
Education: Such as may have been gained through: graduation from a college of recognized standing or a graduate degree in Public or Business Administration, Law or Community Planning; and
Experience: Such as may have been gained through: considerable employment in a highly responsible administrative position in the field of public administration; or considerable employment in senior executive capacity which had an impact on overall corporate or business activities.
Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.”
The second position posted post-RIDOT bridge failure is the “administrator for policy and community affairs.” This position pays between $97.941 and $110,979.
The duties include, “To serve in a highly responsible capacity to the Director of Transportation by relieving him/her of certain administrative tasks; to represent the Director in contacts with local community officials and groups on matters relating to the department’s programs; to be responsible for special project development; to be responsible for liaison with national, regional and special topic transportation associations and organizations; to serve as liaison with federal officials, congressional members and their staffs relative to transportation legislation, finances and programs; and to do related work as required.”
Again, this position requires no technical expertise and has minimal education requirements.
The third position posted post-RIDOT bridge failure is the “Director of the Division of Project Management,” a job that is advertised to pay between $167,538 and $184,505.
The duties include, “Within the Department of Transportation (DOT), to be responsible for implementing and managing the Department’s Capital Program within scope, on time and on budget; by providing overall assistance and support to the Director of Operations in the areas involved with the planning, coordination, and implementation of all sections within the Division of Project Management; to assume the responsibility for the overall administration of the department in the absence of the Director of Operations; and to do related work as required.”
The educational requirement is “Graduation from a college of recognized standing or a graduate degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering or a closely related field; and Experience: Considerable employment in a highly responsible professional position in the field of public administration or project management; or considerable employment in senior executive capacity which had an impact on overall corporate or business activities. Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.”
