The Rhode Island State Police have arrested an elementary school teacher for possession of child pornography.

Anthony Martin, 52, was arrested for possession of child pornography after an investigation was initiated regarding an individual allegedly using the internet connection at 255 Central Street in Lincoln, to access child pornography.

Martin is currently employed as an elementary school music teacher in North Providence at Stephen Olney Elementary School and Centredale Elementary School.

He has been a music and band teacher for over 25 years; including tenures in Providence, Massachusetts, and Florida.

Martin has been with the North Providence Schools since 1997 and he has taught at both the elementary and middle school level.

The Arrest

On Thursday, the RI State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force executed a search warrant at the address and identified Martin as the alleged owner of digital media used to possess the child pornography.

Martin was arraigned at Sixth Division District before Associate Judge Houlihan and was held on $5,000 surety bail with special conditions including no unsupervised contact with children and restricted use of the internet.
