Trump Moves Federal Taxes to July 15 - Cuomo “Pauses” NY, Will Enforce Mandatory Business Closures
The administration of President Donald Trump said on Friday that they are moving federal tax day to July 15 — and earlier on Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that he is instituting an enforceable “pause” in New York State, mandating that all non-essential employees stay home.
Cuomo’s executive order takes effect Sunday evening, and comes a day after California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered the state's nearly 40 million residents to stay home.
With the two states having a combined population of nearly 59 million people, CNN points out the two orders affect nearly 1 in 5 Americans.

On Friday, at Trump’s direction, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin tweeted, “We are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”
