One student was sent to Hasbro Children's Hospital.

According to police and Providence Public School Department officials, both incidents are under investigation.

Suzanne Ouellette, chief of communications for the Providence Schools, wrote in an email to GoLocal:

The first incident took place at Roger Williams Middle School, where the school was placed in a temporary no pass status because of a fight. The teacher was reportedly hit while trying to break up the fight. We have attached the letter sent to families.

A second separate and isolated incident took place at Nathanael Greene Middle School on Tuesday. It was reported that a student verbally assaulted and then allegedly pushed a teacher. Providence Police responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported following both incidents.

It is unclear why Providence Schools did not notify families at Nathanael Greene about the incident that occurred at that school.
