VIDEO: Providence Place Mall Security Tackles Two in Incident on Saturday

At least two individuals have been detained following an incident at Providence Place Mall on Saturday afternoon.

Video secured by GoLocal shows mall security attempting to restrain two people fighting coming down an escalator at the mall shortly after 5 PM. 

About Incident 

“I heard a lot of yelling and screaming on the third floor — as I was walking to go up to the third floor, they were all coming down the escalator,” witness Anthony Sionni told GoLocal. 

“Somebody also threw a drink down when they were going down the escalator,” he added. “It was all pushing and shoving on the escalator which then led out onto the floor.”

The video obtained by GoLocal shows at least one individual assaulting mall security; two individuals appear to have been detained.

“The security guard told me they’re being processed now and the mall security office,” said Sionni.

GoLocal has inquired with Providence police if there have been arrests made stemming from the incident.

Providence police were called to Providence Place Mall Saturday night for a report of a large disturbance.

According to police, there were over 100 juveniles involved in the melee.

Multiple backup units were called in to respond to the reportedly disruptive crowd.
