On Wednesday, Dr. Peter Simon, who served as the Medical Director at the Rhode Island Department of Health, called on Governor Gina Raimondo to cancel all public events.

Raimondo urged Newport to cancel the St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, which the City Council voted on Tuesday to allow to move forward.

The Rhode Island General Assembly postponed the House Judiciary hearing scheduled for Wednesday night.
