About Incident

An officer on patrol on Federal Hill early Sunday morning for the closing time at multiple bars said he saw a woman screaming outside of Saje Kitchen shortly before 2 AM.

The restaurant is located at 332 Atwells Avenue.

According to police, the woman was being refused reentrance into the establishment and was subsequently told by police to leave the area.

It was at that time the suspect — later identified as Taylor Martone, age 27 — reportedly hit the officer with a closed fist multiple times.

Police say Martone resisted arrest and bit the officer on the arm, breaking skin.

After additional responding officers appeared on the scene, police said force was used to subdue Martone.

Martone was placed in a cruiser and taken to Central Station.

The officer went to Roger Williams Hospital for treatment.

Martone is facing multiple charges.
