Woman, Dog Shot in Two Separate Incidents in Providence Overnight

A woman — and a dog — were shot in two separate incidents in Providence overnight.

According to police, shortly before 10 PM on Monday, they were called to Bodell Avenue off of Hartford Avenue or a report of shots fired. 

Police said they met with a male in his 40s who told them a friend had called him to let him know his dog — a Chihuahua — had been struck with bullet. 

The dog, which was bleeding, was taken by its owner to a veterinarian emergency room for treatment.

Shortly after 1 AM on Tuesday morning, police responded to March Street off of Douglas Avenue for a report of shots fired.

According to police, they met with a male in his twenties — who was holding a female gunshot victim in his arms.

A woman on the scene told police the two females had been sitting inside the victim’s car when a sedan with tinted windows pulled up and open fired.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
