Woman Shot in Providence on Sunday - Weekend of Violence - Brawl, Stabbing and Beatings

A woman was shot in Providence on Sunday afternoon. 

The incident took place on Russo Street off Charles Street. 

According to Providence Police Detectives Major David Laptain, the female victim was shot in the arm.

It marks the latest in three days of violence in the city. 

 

Weekend in City

Club Brawl

Early Sunday morning, multiple people were injured in a fight at a bar on Federal Hill. 

A club security guard was arrested; the Board of Licenses later Sunday morning ordered a 72-hour closure of the club.

Stabbing on Saturday 

A man was stabbed during a fight in Providence on Saturday afternoon, and a man is in custody. 

The assault happened off of Admiral Street.

According to police, the incident arose from a fight between the two individuals.

Juveniles Stabbed, Assaulted in Downtown Providence 

On Friday, police were called to Kennedy Plaza for a report of a robbery. 

According to police, the victim - a 16-year-old male - said he was walking down a staircase behind Union Station toward Waterplace Park when he was approached by three males.

He was assaulted and robbed

Earlier in the day, two juveniles were stabbed downtown, in an incident that occurred on Empire Street shortly after 8:30 AM
