The job has been vacant for three weeks after McKee was elevated to the governorship after Gina Raimondo was confirmed as U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

According to McKee's office, the candidates invited back for second interviews include:
Maria Bucci - former Cranston Mayoral candidate — she lost to Ken Hopkins in the November election.
John Partridge - founding partner of Partridge, Snow, and Hahn
Senator Lou DiPalma
Former Central Falls Mayor James Diossa
Democratic fundraiser Elizabeth Beretta-Perik
Representative Anastasia Williams
Providence City Council President Sabina Matos
Representative Grace Diaz
Former State Representative Joanne Giannini
Representative Bob Phillips -- represents Woonsocket and Cumberland
There is no timeline as to when McKee will announce his selection.
