Kilmartin Wins AG Race

Peter Kilmartin won the Democratic primary for Attorney General, with 39.9 percent of the vote. Stephen Archambault edged into second place with 33.3 percent, leaving Joe Fernandez in third with 26.7 percent.

“I think our win tonight shows that our message of protecting Rhode Island families resonated across the Ocean State,” Kilmartin spokesman Brett Broesder told GoLocalProv. “We look forward to continuing to perpetuate out message of cracking down on violent crime, leading the charge against mortgage fraud, and cracking down on corrupt government officials.”

In the end, he said Kilmartin’s proven leadership experience and plans for protecting Rhode Island families are what made him prevail.

Kilmartin also had a strong get-out-the-vote effort - which is key to winning low-turnout primaries. In the run-up to the primary, Kilmartin told GoLocalProv that his campaign workers distributed 51,000 door-hangers and were out in neighborhoods up until 3 in the morning the day of the primary.
