LIVE ELECTION UPDATE Kilmartin Wins in Crowded Field 11:25 PM

Kilmartin took the race with 43.2 percent of the vote. Wallin drew percent 28.9 support and Little had 14.2 percent. McKenna and Rainville trailed at 9.7 percent and 4 percent, respectively. It was big win for a long-time Democrat in a rough year for Democrats—both nationally and in Rhode Island—and ensured that the party held onto the Attorney General’s office.
“Peter’s message of protecting Rhode Island families and his background as a police officer, a prosecutor, a lawmaker, and a college professor has really resonated with people across the state,” said Kilmartin spokesman Brett Broesder. “In these difficult times people (want someone) who will protect them and enhance their safety and security and Peter’s background puts him in a perfect position to heed that call.”
