NEW: Elorza Endorses Buttigieg for President

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza has endorsed Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States.

Elorza made the announcement in an op-ed written for USA Today, along with more than 50 other mayors across the country.

"Pete has the life experience and the executive experience to be the unite(r)-in-chief that our country needs. I've seen Pete exemplify the best of what it means to be a mayor, from discussing big ideas to having the practical know-how to make them a reality. Pete's entire life story sets him apart from the field and makes him the best-positioned candidate to take on Trump and win back the White House,” said Elorza.

If Buttigieg wins the 2020 election, he would be the youngest president in American history at the age of 37.
