Rhode Island NOW is set to host an essay contest for students in grades 6 through 12.

“Today’s youth are stepping up as leaders on so many important issues— but especially on climate change and preventing gun violence. RI NOW wants to honor and reward their ideas, and help develop the next generation of feminists. We are thrilled to announce our first essay and art contest open to middle and high school students in Rhode Island,” writes RI NOW in their press release.

The winners of the essay contest will be celebrated at a fundraiser in January at Bravo.

The Essay Contest

For the essay contest, students are asked to write about what feminism means to them, or if they could change any law in order to protect women’s rights, what would it be?

The essay should not exceed 750 words and only one entry per student may be submitted.
