Speaker Mattiello Joins GoLocal LIVE on Tuesday at 3 PM

Speaker of the House Nick Mattiello joins GoLocal LIVE on Tuesday for a one-on-one interview with GoLocal’s CEO Josh Fenton.

Mattiello, who has led the House for more than four years, faces a tough re-election challenge from GOP National Committeeman Steve Frias.

Mattiello beat Frias by 85 votes in 2016.

Now, Mattiello is facing criticisms within his own Democratic caucus as three Democrats as of Monday have said they will no longer support Mattiello as Speaker — Moira Walsh of Providence, Mary Duffy Messier of Pawtucket, and Barrington Representative Jason Knight.

No candidate has come forward to oppose Mattiello and he is has scored a number of legislative wins including the repeal of the car tax — one of the most unpopular and regressive taxes in RI’s modern history.
