Brown Women's Soccer Set to Face Top-Seeded Florida State in 2nd Round of NCAA Tournament

The #16 Brown women’s soccer team is preparing to take on top-seeded, and defending national champion, Florida State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Bears kicked off their first of two training sessions on Wednesday at Florida State in preparation for Friday’s game against the Seminoles.

Game time is set for 5 p.m.

Brown This Season

Brown is in the midst of its seventh all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since 1994.

In the Bears' NCAA first-round game, junior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson made six saves in regulation then stopped two shots in the penalty kick shootout as Brown topped Monmouth University in penalty kicks, 4-1, to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

During the regular season, the Bears set program records for wins in a single season (14) and shutouts in a single season (13).

Brown boasts one of the country’s top defenses, ranking second in the NCAA in GAA (0.32), second in goals allowed (six), and third in save percentage (.906).

Brown is led by Ivy League Rookie of the Year Brittany Raphino, who has eight goals and three assists on the year.
