PC Soccer to Host NJIT in First Round of NCAA Tournament Thursday

The Providence College Friars men’s soccer team will host the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

The Friars received an automatic bid to the tournament after going 14-6 in the regular season and losing to Georgetown in the Big East Championship.

NJIT enters Thursday's match with a 10-4-4 overall record and earned an automatic bid to the tournament after capturing the program's first ASUN Tournament Championship.

Game time is set for Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

Tickets will be available for sale at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19 through the Providence College Ticket Office. 

The winner of the match-up between PC and NJIT will face #15 seed Penn State on Sunday, November 24.

PC in NCAA Tournament

The Friars are making their 10th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament, and fourth under the direction of eighth-year Head Coach Craig Stewart.

The Friars' last appearance was in 2016 and the team advanced to the Quarterfinals.

The Friars' most notable run in the NCAA's came during the 2014 campaign, when the squad advanced to the College Cup Semifinal.

Providence is 9-7-1 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, including a 6-3-1 mark with Stewart at the helm.
