NEW: PC Soccer Loses Double OT Heartbreaker to North Carolina in Elite 8

The Providence College Friars men's soccer team fell 1-0 in double overtime to North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament's elite eight on Friday night in North Carolina. 

In the 102nd minute, North Carolina's Drew Murphy blasted a shot from just outside the left box, that went off the hand of Friars goaltender Colin Miller and into the net, giving the Tar Heels the 1-0 win. North Carolina will now advance to face Denver in the final four. 

In the game, PC had six shots, but only two of them were on goal. Carolina recorded six shots on goal and 16 shots overall.

PC's Run 

The Friars advanced to their second elite eight in three years after defeating Big East rival Creighton 2-1 on November 26 in Creighton. 

Prior to that, Providence knocked off top-seeded Maryland in the NCAA Tournament's second round. In the game, PC trailed 4-1 in the second half, before storming back to win the game 5-4. 

PC finishes the season with a record of 15-7 overall.
