With the game tied at one in the 82nd, PC's Danny Griffin took a drop pass from Julian Gressel and blasted a shot off the fingertips of  Blue Jay's goaltender Alex Kapp and into the back of the net to give the Friars a 2-1 lead.

The goal would prove to be Griffin's sixth game-winning goal of the season.

Creighton would pressure the Friars for the remainder of the half, recording two shots on goal in the final minutes but Providence goalkeeper Colin Miller was able to turn them away.

Miller made nine saves on ten shots on goal by Creighton to preserve the win.

The Blue Jays got on the board first when Joel Rydstand notched his first third goal of the season at the 8:16 mark of the first half.

The Friars would tie the game 12 minutes later on a goal by Gressel at the 20:28 mark of the first half. The goal was the product of a pass by Brendan Constantine, who managed to stay in bounds before laying the ball off to Gressel.

The goal was Gressel's 15th of the season.

PC and Creighton would go into the half tied at one.
