Quinn at BU

Quinn just finished his fifth season as head coach of Boston University, compiling a 105-68-21 record in that span.

His best year in Boston came in 2015 when he led the Terriers to the NCAA national championship game, before losing to Providence College 4-3.

While at Boston University, Quinn worked with, now current NHL players, Jack Eichel, Charlie McAvoy, Brady Tkachuk and Jake Oettinger, among others.

Prior to BU

Prior to coaching BU, Quinn served as an assistant coach with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche in 2012-2013.

Prior to that, he served as an assistant on Team USA in 2012 and the head coach of the Lake Erie Monsters from 2009-2012.

He began his coaching career as an assistant with Northeastern from 1994-1996.

Quinn as a Player

After playing hockey at the Kent School in Connecticut, Quinn was drafted in the first round, 13th overall, by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.

However, he did not turn pro immediately, instead, he played college hockey at Boston University.

After his junior year, he tried out for the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team. During his tryout, he was diagnosed with Haemophilia B.

Due to the disorder, Quinn was forced to retire.

He did return to the ice with the Binghamton Rangers in 1992 and the Cleveland Lumberjacks in 1993, but would never make it to the NHL.

New York Rangers

The Rangers are searching for a new coach after general manager Jeff Gorton fired Alain Vigneault.

The Rangers are coming off a 34-39-9 record in 2017-2018 and without a playoff berth.
