East Greenwich's Andreozzi Named RI H.S. Football Player of the Year

East Greenwich's Nick Andreozzi has been selected as the 2015-16 Gatorade State Football Player of the Year.

Andreozzi is the senior quarterback for East Greenwich and has led the Avengers to an 11-1 record and a spot in the Division III state championship game against Classical High School. The game is set for Sunday, December 6th.

At the time of the selection, Andreozzi has completed 137 of 199 passes for a total of 2,096 yards and 35 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions. Andreozzi has thrown for multiple touchdowns in 11 of the Avenger's 12 games.  

Andreozzi has also rushed for 322 yards and five touchdowns on 47 carries.

Gatorade State Football Players of the Year

The Gatorade State Football Players of the Year are selected based on athletic production and impact in the 2015-16 season.

Each winner of the award also showed a high academic achievement and exemplary personal character, including volunteerism, sportsmanship and community leadership.
