What has been the biggest challenge being a high school athlete?

My biggest challenge has been to balance my school and hockey. School has always been my top priority, and hockey has been an extra. I know that I need to do well in school to be able to play hockey, and I always study hard.

Who is your biggest motivator?

My biggest motivator has always been my dad. He is the reason I began playing hockey. He always took me to my early practices and coached me to help me improve.

Who is your biggest rival?

My biggest rival is the other team. I always need to be ready when the puck drops, and it does not matter who we play. Any team can put the puck in the net, and my job is to keep it out.

What are you working to improve your game?

To improve, I always give 110 % at practices. I know that I need to be ready to play, and hard work has been paying off for me.

What is your greatest memory on the ice?

My greatest memory from this season was winning the Holiday Face Off. It was our tournament, which made it so much more special. And being named to the All-Tournament Team was nice after we had done what we could as a team.

How are you able to balance your schoolwork with practices, games, and training?

I have been able to balance school with hockey by making sure I do my work before practice. We have downtime from dismissal until we go on the ice, and I use this time in the library. This keeps me on top of everything, and I do not need to stay up late.

Where do you see yourself going from here, do you plan to pursue this sport in college?

Being able to play in college would be great, but right now I want to focus on my senior season and help my team.
