GAME ON: The Player – Trevor Plante

Q & A with Trevor Plante, Mount St. Charles Hockey

What has been the biggest challenge being a high school athlete?

The most challenging thing for me is showing up to every practice and game motivated to play. Balancing schoolwork with a loaded hockey schedule can become very difficult for me.

Who is your biggest motivator?

My biggest motivator is to win the state championship for the forth year in a row. Winning it the first three years was special but winning it again my senior year would make it more memorable.

Who is your biggest rival?

Every year that changes but this year it seems that La Salle Academy gives us good games. You can always count on a good battle when we play La Salle. The private school match ups are usually our top rivals.

What are you working to improve your game?

To improve my game I attend a two-hour practice everyday and use it to my full advantage. A lot of teams do not have that privilege so it is important to never waste time on the ice. Also once in a while we have goalie practices to work on our shooting and puck handling skills.

What is your greatest memory on the ice?

My greatest memory on the ice is winning the state championships. Each one is of equal importance to me and it is something that you can enjoy with friends and family.

How are you able to balance your schoolwork with practices, games, and training?

Time management is important when balancing schoolwork with hockey. Going to do homework before hockey practice is something a lot of us do. I like to put my schoolwork before most activities.

Where do you see yourself going from here, do you plan to pursue this sport in college?

Next year my plan is to go to college and hopefully continue my hockey career.
