Holt Throwing Error Costs Red Sox

With the game tied at four in the bottom of the 9th, Guyer hit a lead off double to left field against Boston pitcher Brandon Workman to put a man on second with no outs.

Cleveland’s Roberto Perez dropped a bunt and Holt fielded it and tried to throw out Guyer at third instead of going to first.

Guyer slid into the bag as Holt’s throw bounced past Boston third baseman Rafael Devers. Guyer then got up and ran home to give the Indians the walk-off win.

The Red Sox took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Hanley Ramirez.

The Indians tied the game at four in the 8th on a RBI single by Edwin Encarnacion.

Series Continues

The Red Sox and Indians continue their series on Tuesday, August 22 at 7 p.m.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Doug Fister against Cleveland’s Carlos Carrasco.
