Thomas Injured, Cavaliers Hand Celtics Worst Home Playoff Loss in Team History

Isaiah Thomas left the game at the half with a right hip strain and it did not return as the Boston Celtics were blown out by the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-86 in game 2 of the Eastern Conference final on Friday night at TD Garden in Boston. 

Thomas played 18 minutes in the game and scored two points. His status is uncertain for game 3. 

For the second straight game the Celtics had no answers for Cleveland, who did whatever they wanted on offense and defense, handing the Celtics their worst home playoff loss in team history.

Cleveland leads the series 2-0 and are now 10-0 in the Playoffs.

The Celtics trailed 11-10 following two free throws from Thomas with 6:35 to play in the first quarter. From that point, Cleveland went on a 21-8 run to take a 32-18 into the second quarter. 

In the second, Cleveland put the game away. 

The Cavaliers outscored the Celtics 40-13 in the quarter and took a 41 point lead, 72-31, into the half.

Cleveland would extend their lead to as much as 50 points in the second half before winning the game by 44 points. 

The Cavaliers were led by LeBron James who scored 30 points, while Kyrie Irving added 23 points. 

The Celtics shot 37% from the field and 29% from three in the game. Boston was led by Jaylen Brown who scored 19 points off the bench. 

Game 3 is set for Sunday night in Cleveland. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m.
