MA's Seasonally Unadjusted Unemployment Rates Drop 1.9 %

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) today reported that the seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates for December were down in seventeen labor market areas, with two areas remaining unchanged and three areas going up over the month. 

Over the entire year, unemployment rates were down in each of the labor market areas. 

The preliminary statewide unadjusted unemployment rate estimate for December was 4.8 percent, down 0.4 of a percentage point from the November rate. Meanwhile the statewide unadjusted unemployment rate was down 1.9 percent from December of 2013, which held a rate of 6.7 percent.

The unadjusted unemployment rates and job estimates for the labor markets reflect the seasonal fluctuations and therefore may show different levels and trends than the statewide estimates.
