The announcement does have an impact on Rhode Island.

"IGT Lottery employees will continue as Brightstar employees. The joint venture with Bally’s to provide slot machines (from all vendors, not just IGT) will continue.  The sports betting app contract remains in effect until expiration next year," said Mike DeAngelis, Senior Director, Corporate Communications for the new Brightstar.

The now-Brightstar, "We are proud of our long-term contract extension with the Rhode Island Lottery and the services we provide, which runs until June 2043, and are committed to maintaining and growing our presence in Rhode Island over time. We make every effort to meet the requirements of our contract, which includes striving to meet its employment requirements and compensating the state when we do not do so," added DeAngelis.

Upon completion of the sale of IGT's Gaming and Digital business ("IGT Gaming"), which is expected to occur as early as July 1, 2025, to Voyager Parent, LLC, a holding company owned by funds managed by affiliates of Apollo, Brightstar will be a premier pure play lottery business designed to elevate lotteries and inspire players.
