NEW: RI Resource Recovery Names Reposa Executive Director

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation named Joseph Reposa as its new Executive Director on Wednesday. 

"I am looking forward to working with the Resource Recovery team, its partners and the communities across Rhode Island to continue to provide safe, environmentally responsible and sustainable solid waste services,” said Reposa. 

Reposa succeeds Mike OConnell, who is retiring later this month after ten years of service.

"We are extremely excited to have Joseph as our new Executive Director. His significant industry experience and proven track record make him the ideal choice to lead our dynamic organization. I am confident that Joseph will take Resource Recovery into its next phase through thoughtful leadership, outreach, and collaboration," said Michael Sabitoni, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Resource Recovery.  

As Executive Director, Reposa will be responsible for all parts of Resource Recovery’s operations including strategic direction, financial solvency, and long-term planning. He will begin his role starting June 19, 2017. 

Joseph Reposa 

Most recently, Reposa served as the General Manager for Waste Management and Vice President of Marketing for Sears Holdings Corporation.  

He has also held top management positions in sales, information technology and operations in both environmental services and the retail industry. 

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts and an MBA from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
