75 percent of employees reported being very or extremely satisfied working for a small employer.
According to the 2017 Aflac Happiness Report, 75 percent of employees surveyed reported being very or extremely satisfied working for a small employer.

The report, based on a survey of 1,000 employees who worked at companies with 3-49 employees, listed key factors behind the high satisfaction rating, the top five of which were:

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Seeing the fruits of their labor
  • Feeling like their input matters
  • Rewarded for hard work
  • Noticed by people who matter

Of the survey participants who previously worked for a large company, 67 percent said that feeling more appreciated was the biggest benefit of working at a small company versus a large one.

The lesson for bigger companies? No matter your size, be sure to show employees their value in the organization.
