NEW: RI Dept. of Health Reports 2 Deaths, 274 Injuries from Storm Juno

The Rhode Island Department of Health has revealed that two died during blizzard Juno as a result of shoveling snow and that there were 274 other storm related injuries. 

Of the 274 injuries, 175 were a result of slips and falls  while 35 came from motor vehicle accidents. Meanwhile, 18 of the injuries came from sledding accidents.  

"As we continue to clean up from Juno, I want to remind everyone to drive with caution, check on your loved ones and neighbors, take frequent breaks when shoveling, and to be sure to call 2-1-1 or Serve Rhode Island if you need help digging out,”  said Governor Gina Raimondo.

The department of health has also released several safety tips for residents during the winter months: 

  • Drink Plenty of Water
  • Dress Warmly and dress in several layers
  • Avoid Caffeine and Nicotine, they put extra strain on your heart
  • Warm up Muscles in arms and legs
