Mark Cutler at Nick-A-Nee’s

Nick-A-Nee’s in Providence has a Record Release Party starring longtime local rocker Mark Cutler. Along with his band Men of Great Courage, he’s celebrating the release of his killer new album Dreamland. Founder of legendary RI bands The Schemers and The Raindogs, Cutler’s sound continues to evolve, or in this case devolve, toward a simpler, more roots influenced style. Check him out tonight at 9PM. The Duke at Chan’s

There’s little debate that Duke Robillard is the greatest Blues guitar player ever to come out of the state of Rhode Island. He’s won numerous awards and honors, and has played with everyone from The Fabulous Thunderbirds to Bob Dylan. The Woonsocket native is playing two hometown shows at Chan’s tonight at 8PM and 10PM. And if you like your Blues with a little more distortion, check out Albert Cummings tomorrow night at Chan’s for two shows at 8PM and 10PM. Ticket information for both shows can be found here.

Rock out at AS220

Tonight, there’s another great show at AS220 featuring a number of local bands includingHuge Face, 14 foot 1, The Bynars, Nightmom and the Providence Holiday Saxophone Choir. Spend your Friday the 13th with a bunch of cool indie bands celebrating the season. It’s an all ages event starting at 9PM, tickets are $6.

Afrodisiac at The Roi

Also tonight, check out a really cool show at the Roi in Providence. Afrodisiac is a special event featuring a number of artists. The genre bending show includes Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word. The assorted artists include Dieverse A Real MC, Janay,Medusah Black, Blessed Energy, Kate Rushin and Rudy Rudacious. Show starts at 10PM, tickets are $5 at the door.

The Deadly Gentlemen at Lilypads

Tomorrow night, Lilypads in Peacedale has The Deadly Gentlemen, a Boston-based bluegrass-roots band. The Gentlemen have received a good deal of critical praise for their recent release,“Roll Me, Tumble Me.”Cold Chocolate opens at 7:30PM – Tickets start at $15 and are available here.
