Children's Friend Seeking Gifts for 68 Families With 1 Week Left in Campaign

Children's Friend is nearing its goal of helping 1450 Rhode Island families in need this holiday season, with just one week left in its annual Spirit of Giving Campaign.

Gifts of warm clothing, blankets, books and toys are still needed for 68 additional families who receive services from Children's Friend throughout the year.

“The holidays can be a time of stress, sadness and frustration when parents can’t afford one gift from their children’s wish list. Everyone wants to believe in the magic of this season and giving parents a new coat, toy or pair of shoes for them to wrap and to present to their children, brings moments of joy and happiness to everyone," said President and Chief Executive Officer, David Caprio.

So far, corporations, churches, fraternal organizations and generous individuals have come forward and donated gifts for over 1,300 families since November 23rd. Coats, boots, books, blankets and toys have been collected for 95 percent of the families on Children's Friend's wish list. But 68 families still remain.

Gifts are being accepted at the Children's Friend headquarters at 153 Summer Street in Providence, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. each day until December 23rd.
