Don't Miss: Friends of Ballard Park Fundraiser in Newport

Tickets are now on sale for Friends of Ballard Park’s Annual Fundraiser, which will be held Saturday, June 1 from 6 to 8pm. The event wil be hosted by Carol and Les Ballard at their Newport home, Edgehill. Proceeds from the evening will help to fund field trips for local school children and free public events like outdoor movie screenings and concerts held at Ballard Park.

Sponsored by Fiduciary Trust International, the evening will include jazz music by the Ben Shaw Quartet, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres by McGrath Clambakes, Inc. and wines served from Mr. Ballard’s collection. Friends of Ballard Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, maintaining and promoting Newport’s Only Nature Preserve. It works to ensure that the park remains a wild and natural open space, encourage the local public to visit and use the park, provide educational and cultural opportunities for local youth and families, and highlight the unique qualities and historical importance of Ballard Park. Its cultural events and educational programming help to promote stewardship of the park and decrease negative park activities. Over 700 children participate in field trips to Ballard park, and more than 8,100 people attend events there.

Look out for more events hosted by Friends of Ballard Park this summer! A Father's Day tour of the park will be held on June 16. Yoga classes will be offered on June 18, June 25, July 2, and July 9.
