Seen: Brian Dennehy at Trinity + More

Artistic director Curt Columbus promised a packed house in Trinity Rep's Dowling Theater that this was a once-in-a-lifetime night on Monday, and he was right. Stage, film, and TV star Brian Dennehy joined Trinity's Fred Sullivan, Jr., onstage for a remarkable night of reading and conversation about the great American playwright Eugene O'Neill. Dennehy and Sullivan, in addition to sharing a deep regard for the works of the only American playright to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, also share some interesting personal history--Sullivan dated Dennehy's daughter, Elizabeth, long ago, in college. Six weeks ago, Sullivan traveled to Chicago to see Dennehy in his record-breaking run of O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, and Elizabeth joined the two men for a good Chicago steak dinner afterward. Maybe the longtime chemistry had something to do with the magical night onstage, as the two actors gave a rapt audience intimate glimpses into 3 plays: Moon for the Misbegotten, Hughie (which Dennehy starred in 8 years ago in Providence at Trinity) and Long Day's Journey Into Night.  A bright night indeed on Washington Street, and $10,000 raised for Trinity's ongoing capital campaign. It's nearly time for Brown University's students to come back, and thanks to a judge's ruling this week, celebrity co-ed Scout Willis will back on College Hill with just a little community service requirement behind her. The daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore got in trouble with the law earlier this year when she was caught drinking alcohol in public... while still underage. A Manhattan judge assigned Willis two days of community service to dismiss her

misdemeanor charge. Court documents described the rising junior sipping an eight-ounce can of beer in New York City's Union Square in violation of an open-container law on June 4. Willis, who had not yet turned 21, offered a fake ID with the name Katherine Kelly on it... but then ended up showing her real ID anyway.

Rhode Island's next great export may have to be beauty... first Cranston's own Olivia Culpo wins it all at Miss USA, then Taylor Kinzler, a URI student, wins Miss Massachusetts, and now we've got a contestent in the running to be America's Next Top Model, which debuts its Cycle 19 on August 24. Leila Goldkuhl may hail from Framingham, MA, but the 20-year-old brings Rhody Pride to the Tyra Banks' runway--she's a student at URI. At 5'11", Leila will vie with 12 other beauties from around the country on ANTM's College Edition. A change in the incredibly popular reality show now allows fans to help decide who goes home and who stays each week by voting online during the course of production based on each contestant's photo shoot. Look for a new judge to help decide Leila's fate this season, male supermodel Rob Evans. This season's prizes include a fashion feature in Nylon Magazine, $100,000 cash, campaigns with Nine West and Smashbox Cosmetics, a modeling contract with LA/NY Models and being named the face of the "America's Next Top Model" perfume Dream Come True.
