Seen: Magic Johnson, Smokey Robinson, Jeffrey Osborne + More

There hasn't been this big an influx of celebrities in the 401 since, well, since… ever, maybe. Thanks to Rhode Island's own Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jeffrey Osborne, a cavalcade of who's who's in sports, music, and entertainment took over Portsmouth's Carnegie Abbey Club and golf course to raise more than $150,000 for children's charities in Rhode Island. The lucky beneficiaries: Amos House, Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School, and The MET School.

The magic began on Monday, when Osborne's co-host for the event and the magic man himself, NBA great Earvin "Magic" Johnson,  spent several hours in Providence's Fox Point at the Boys & Girls Club, talking to kids about getting educated and taking responsibilities for their actions. Johnson's candid, relaxed talk with the kids was a reminder of the amazing star power (as well as grace) of the man who many consider to be the greatest ever to play the game.

Monday night, the stars hobnobbed at a black tie reception. Comedian and film star Sinbad was in the house, dancing up a storm, working his classic look in a gray plaid many-buttoned jacket with mandarin collar. Legendary singer Smokey Robinson was working the crowd and shooting lots of pictures.

On Tuesday, under a sunny summer sky, Carnegie Abbey filled with even more celebrities for golf on the renowned, Donald Steel-designed links: Miami Heat President (and Magic's former Lakers coach) Pat Riley, Celtics great John Havlicek, Patriots linebacker Andre Tippett, The O’Jays, PC and Celtics player Ernie DiGregorio, MLB Hall of Famer Joe Morgan, "The Insider" Host Kevin Frazier, Red Sox pitcher Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd, ESPN's Tim Welsh,  R&B/Funk/Soul artist Tiny Tavares, and New Edition's Johnny Gill. There was even time for a birthday party: it was Magic's 53rd birthday eve, and he enjoyed a cake created by the Bakery Boutique's Deana and Ryan Cimorelli (who were recent contestants on TLC's Next Great Baker).

It wasn't completely a man's event, however. Rhode Island's own Claudia Jordan, Miss RI USA '97, a competitor on the Celebrity Apprentice, and one of the iconic suitcase-toting models on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, was also on the scene... and took first place in the tournament, playing the course with Osborne, Gill and the O'Jays' Eddie Levert. Jordan also snapped a Twitpic of herself with fellow female sporter Elizabeth Beisel, who's just back in Rhode Island from her second Olympics. Jordan's hashtag? #Proudtweet.

When Snoop Dogg upgraded his name to Snoop Lion, did he pick up a Serengetti-sized appetite? Gotta be, as when the rapper was at Lupo's last week, he put in an order with Rick's Roadhouse in Providence for the following, for his post-concert snack.
