9 Major Coronavirus Developments—March 16, 2020

The coronavirus is transforming life in Rhode Island and across the globe. Numerous restrictions have been implemented and more are expected.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced that schools in the Commonwealth will be closed for the next three weeks and maybe longer.

More than 50 percent of the K-12 schools in America are now closed. Nearly every college in America has moved to online learning.

Additionally, starting Tuesday, free “grab and go” meals will be available for Rhode Island children. These meal sites will be open throughout the week as schools across the state are closed. 

All sites are open and free for anyone age 18 or younger. There are no ID or residency requirements, but the child must be present. Schools cannot give a meal to an adult on behalf of a child.
