A rally to demand the release of two detainees from the Wyatt Detention Facility, where Fabian Schmidt is currently being held, has been organized for Tuesday night.

Schmidt has been in national news since his detention by the Trump Administration.

"U.S. immigration authorities arrested and interrogated a German national who is a legal permanent U.S. resident at Boston Logan International Airport on March 7, according to the man’s mother and his partner. Days later, he was transferred to a federal detention facility," reported NBC on Monday

The rally at Wyatt in Central Falls, organized by the Rhode Island Working Families Party, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM on Tuesday.

"The Trump Administration is purposefully testing the limits of what the public will accept on arbitrary, mass deportations. We’re here to demand that Rhode Island leadership take a stand," said RI Working Families Party Political Director Zack Mezera. "Beyond Fabian Schmidt's unexplained detention, the President is targeting families outside schools and churches, tearing apart communities in the cruelest ways. Yet state government leaders haven't prioritized this issue."

"Previous rallies—and years fighting against ICE, the Wyatt, and the political apathy enabling cruel treatment of immigrants in Rhode Island—show that regular Rhode Islanders are willing to put our bodies on the line to protect immigrant neighbors," added Mezera. "If elected officials join us, we might finally have a fighting chance."
