Brown Alpert Medical School Stroke Specialist McTaggart to Join “Smart Health” on Wednesday

Dr. Ryan McTaggart with The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University will talk about the latest intervention methods for the most severe strokes — and more — when he joins “Smart Health” on Wednesday, June 10 at 4 p.m.

McTaggart, an Associate Professor of Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology and Neurosurgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School, is a Neuroradiologist who specializes in Interventional Neuroradiology at Rhode Island Hospital, and has particular expertise in flow diversion for difficult intracranial aneurysms.

As the Director of Interventional Neuroradiology, McTaggart will discuss how Rhode Island Hospital has the only comprehensive primary stroke center in the state — and how advances in mobile diagnosis of stroke can save critical time in referring stroke patients to the proper urgent medical care.

More About McTaggart

McTaggart’s research interest is in the minimally invasive therapy of neurovascular disease, including acute ischemic stroke. In addition, he is passionate about transforming systems of care for stroke patients to improve timely access to mechanical thrombectomy. 

His work has been published in more than 90 peer-reviewed journals, books and book chapters. He is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery and serves on the Standards and Guidelines Committee of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery.

Since granting its first Doctor of Medicine degrees in 1975, the Warren Alpert Medical School has become a national leader in medical education and biomedical research.
