Couple Reports Assault in Downtown Providence While Getting E-Bike

A young couple reported being assaulted by a group of individuals while attempting to rent an electronic bike in downtown Providence on Saturday night. 

About Incident 

Police were called to 1 Sabin Street — where the Rhode Island Convention Center is located — for a report of an assault shortly after 9:30 PM Saturday night.

Upon arrival, police said they met with two victims — an 18-year-old female and a 20-year-old male.

The victims told police they had been attempting to get on an e-bike, when a group of males surrounded them — and began assaulting them. 

The female victim sustained injuries to her legs and arms. 

Police are currently investigating.
