East Providence Police Respond to Stabbing at High School

East Providence Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old boy stabbed a 16-year-old boy in a bathroom on Thursday at the High School.

At about 2 pm on Thursday, East Providence  Police announced that “Officers have cleared the high school. Please see local media outlets for updates directly from Chief Francesconi's press conference. Thank you to the students, staff, and parents that remained calm and allowed officers to conduct their investigation.”

The police said at about 3 PM to “Expect a large police presence at the East Providence High School until at least dismissal time. There was an incident at the school that was immediately addressed and brought under control. THERE IS NO ACTIVE THREAT. STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE SAFE. Do not respond to the school at this time. Those picking up EPHS students after school are asked to park in the Shaw's parking lot. We will update when more information is available."

Police have not released either name as both are minors.
