Igliozzi Elected Providence City Council President, Lombardi to Chief of Staff

The Council also elected Councilman Pedro Espinal (Ward 10) as Council President Pro Tempore. Each will hold this position for the remainder of this current term which will conclude in January of 2023.
The changeover was created as former Council President Sabina Matos was confirmed as Lt. Governor on Tuesday.

He has served as the Chairman of the Council's Committee on Finance since 2007 except when there was a fight on the council and there were de facto two finance committees. He has served on the Council since 1997.
Igliozzi is an attorney for the RI Department of Transportation. His family has a long history in Providence politics. His late father Vincent, who served as Chairman of the 7th Ward Committee, his late mother Dolores, who served on the Rhode Island State Democratic Committee, and his brother David Igliozzi served on the Council before him.
